On Friday our school hosted Jersey Day for Goal which is held annually around Ireland in many different schools. Pupils in our school like Goal Jersey Day because it is a day out of their uniform, while also raising funds for Goal which is a charity which helps people by bringing food and aid to impoverished countries like Ethiopia, Syria and Sierra Leone.
Jersey Day involves wearing in a Jersey of your choice and bringing in two Euro for Goal. The idea has worked so well in our school we have decided to host it for the last few years. Nearly 400 pupils wore in a jersey and brought in two Euro in to raise funds for Goal. Our school raised close to 1,000 Euro for Goal which will go a long way in people’s lives.
At the end of the day the whole school was brought outside and Mr Briody one of the teachers who helped organise it took a photo of the school in our jerseys.
I think Jersey Day is a great idea because schools all over the country can raise money for Goal and help improve the lives of people all over the world.
