Collage awareness week has fast approached us although we are still young it’s a great opportunity for us to get our minds thinking about what and who we would like to be when we are older. This is a very important week for us as we venture into life in college and understand the opportunities that will be available to us should we be interested in college. At our young age it`s hard to imagine going to college. We made college ID’s and air bubbles on what we want to be when we are older and we learned all about campus and things you do in college. Anybody whom is interested in college this is great to learn about college and is something that everybody should be part of. When I grow up I would like to be a actor. Here are some boys from 6th class telling us about what they would like to do in college.

When I am older I would like to be a Physiotherapist. I would need to have around 554 points as that was the points required for entry onto the course this year. I would like to go to college in UCD. The duration of study for being a Physiotherapist is 4 years. I would enter through the CAO system. I will need to do at least one science subject in my leaving certificate and study really hard!!!

I would like to be a physio because I would like to make lots of money and I could work with different sports team. My dream sports team to work with would be the Irish rugby team.

When I am older I want to be a vet and I will need at least h5 in chemistry and in points approximately 555 points as that was the points needed to gain entry this year. I would have to spend 5 years in collage to be a vet and I will enter through the CAO system.

To study to be a vet, I hope to go to UCD college in Dublin.

I love helping animals like dogs and cats so I think this job would be perfect for me. I would love to own my own veterinary clinic someday!

We have been looking at different courses and jobs that we would like to do when we are older. I would like to be a teacher so I have been looking at courses. I would like to study in DCU. I will have to do a course called Primary teaching which will last 4 years. I will apply for it through the CAO. I will need around 464 points to get into this course but it will be worth it if I get in as then I will be able to work in any school as a teacher- my dream job. I would like to be a primary school teacher because it would have good hours and good pay and I would be able to help children learn and get a good education. I would also love the long holidays!!!!

This week is college awareness week and in class we were being asked what we would want to do when we are older and I said that I would like to be a nurse when I am older so I went to find out what I would have to do to be a nurse here is what I found out.

The nursing course I would like to do is in Dublin City University (DCU). The course is called “Nursing-Children and General’ which is a level 8 course. To get in I would need 473 points in my leaving cert so I need to study really hard. It is a 4 and a half year course which is a mixture of college time and time on wards in hospitals.

I would love to be a nurse because I love first aid and helping people. I think it would be a really rewarding job!
