In Ms Sweeney’s class we have been working very hard over the last while learning about The Normans. We spent lots of time in our groups researching about the different aspects of life during Norman times in Ireland. We learned about the different castles they built, such as the motte and bailey, and the various ways these were designed to protect from attack. We also did lots of Art based on the Norman – take a look at the shield’s we made below. Also in the pictures you will see our reconstruction of the Motte and Bailey castle. We also got to visit Drimnagh Castle which is located beside our school. It is a Norman castle. We learned that it is the only remaining castle in Ireland with a flooded moat around it.
