In our school, many boys come from different parts of the world. This is good, as they are all welcome. A lot of boys come from a country in Asia called China. China is a beautiful place full of old buildings from thousands of years ago. One of the most famous ruins is called The Great Wall Of China. It is a giant wall so large it can be seen from space. It was for a Chinese emperor to protect his land from outsiders.
China celebrates a lot of events, and one of them being the New Year. Their new year is always celebrated on a different date to ours. So, this year we had celebration in Room 27. There was lots of food on the tables. Some of the food included, Spring Rolls, Prawn Crackers, Shrimp Toast, Dumplings and many more. Chinese lanterns were hung on the walls also. After the celebration I went to all the boys who attended. They all said they really enjoyed the celabration and it was the same as they celebrated at home. Some of the sixth class boys were lucky enough to get picked to help give out the food. All the other sixth class boys who were not giving out food were sent out to yard to play for an extra hour.
The Chinese calendar has a different animal for each year. This year is the year of the dog. The other animals include: the horse, the tiger, the chicken and a few more. In total there are twelve animals. These animals are called The Zodiac Animals.
So, overall, it was a great day and everyone enjoyed it and loved the food.
